Turning a milestone into a community celebration.
OverviewLovable is one of the fastest-growing AI startups in the world, and it got there because people built things with it in public, taught each other, and pulled the next community members in. For Lovable’s first birthday, I designed and executed an activation for the celebration.
Took an anniversary campaign from concept to launch in one month.

Lovable's first birthday was a chance to celebrate the people who made the company’s growth possible, not just the milestone. The community had carried the product from the start, building in public and pulling each other into the momentum, so the celebration had to illustrate that, thank the people who made it possible, and invite everyone else to join the celebration (and join Lovable!).

I started with a dozen concepts and worked through them with the team to determine which of them felt most “Lovable” and could be implemented efficiently and well without burdening cross-functional partners.
Personalized thank-yous: More than 150 custom videos for early users, investors, and partners, each one made for the person receiving it.
A vibe-coded yearbook: An app built in Lovable itself, where community members generated their own shareable yearbook assets and earned referral rewards for sharing them.
A joint celebration: The framing throughout was that Lovable wouldn't exist without the community, so the birthday belonged to them too. -
~40,000 new users, brought in by a campaign that asked the community to celebrate rather than to promote, which is the difference between growth people resent and growth they share.
A product that demonstrated itself, since the yearbook app was built on Lovable and every asset someone shared was proof of what the platform could do in an afternoon.
The earliest supporters recognized by name, with 150 people receiving a video made for them instead of a mass email, which is the kind of thing people remember and repost.
A birthday that read as gratitude, shared across social media as a story about the community rather than a story about the company, and a stronger relationship with the people who'd carry the community into its next year.

When you build and communicate earnestly with the people you're designing belonging for, the energy is clear and people can feel the difference between a thank you and an ask. The yearbook was a gift, not a request. It recreated a shared moment for people who'd mostly never been in the same room, and it gave them something to keep and be part of.
Lovable also has what we might call champagne problems: the product can be anything someone imagines, so every user is turning their vision into something tangible with the product. The campaign thanked them for that. A product that can theoretically be built into anything is interesting to build community around, because if the experience stays clear and joyful and the energy stays authentic, there's no obvious reason the growth stops.
